Owner / operator Faren has always had a passion for gardening since growing up in Byron Bay and his father's farm 100kms south. His love of plants, entrepreneurial spirit, and amazing group of artist friends were all the pieces of the puzzle that helped stem the 'Artist Planters' idea.

Our Story

Sprung! Artist Planters exhibition BSIDE GalleryΒ  (2018)

Sprung! was the first art exhibition from Under the Seed at BSIDE Gallery in Fitzroy. Artists included Mitch Walder, Ruskidd, DNART, Kenz, Poise, Le Grizz, Frosk, Junky Projects, Stopem, Crisis, Ohnoes, Chehehe, Silk Roy, Facter and Zoe Mullins. Click HERE to see how it all went down.

Artist Planters (2017)

The concept 'Artist Planters' originated after commissioning Blender Studios artist Ruskidd to paint a DIY garden gnome using his brilliant techniques and the idea was born. Under the Seed works side by side with local Melbourne artists to produce one-of-a-kind planter boxers to liven up your home or garden. Artist Planters 'where nature meets the streets'.

The beginning (2015)

Under the Seed sprouted in West Footscray, starting as an eco-friendly organically grown garden with bio-degradable seedlings for sale or swap. Little by little the garden blossomed from herbs, fruit and vegetables to adding plants, succulents and cacti. Self taught owner-operator Faren has always had a passion for botany, horticulture, permaculture, recycling, propagating and growing plants from a young age.
